Irv Gotti Donates To D.C. Mayor's Campaign
Gotti contributed $1000 by credit card late on Wednesday of this week. Fenty is a noted old school hip-hop head but that alone has not endeared him to a large segment of Washington D.C.'s voters. Fenty, who of mixed race, has been receiving heat from the African-American community in D.C. for not appointing enough people of color to positions in his cabinet. However according to many political analysts he will most likely be reelected due to the lack of a strong candidate to oppose him. |

Murs Staying Busy
"Warner Bros. kind of ... stifled me creatively 'cause I was used to having product flow every year -- touring, album, tour, album, tour, two tours and album," Murs explained in an interview with ballerstatus.com. "I'd do two 60-city tours, something in the summer, then new album. I was a workaholic. They kinda shut me up. I have all this music coming outta nowhere, so I'm ready, and I think this is an ultimate way to kick it off..." Murs says he has a glut of material and he wants to do 10 records in 10 months this year. The first record will be ForNever, which features the production of 9th Wonder, and guest appearances include Sick Jacken, Uncle Chucc, Suga Free, Kurupt, and Verbz. |

112 Back Together
During the hiatus rumors did surface that the group had parted ways due to misappropriation of funds. "I'm not sure what the status is of the other three members, but myself, I am no longer in 112," Mike said in an interview. "I had to leave because I found out that a certain member of the group took my publishing check. It was made clear that it was intended for myself and another member, Slim." There is no official word on what label will release the new 112 project. |

Randy & JRock, formerly of Big Brovaz, have got a new project out on road. Called ‘Party Dark’, they’ve put together a “new” record called ‘Is That You’ due for release soon on the revamped legendary Dance label Champion:
Hearing it, if you’re anything like me, you’re thinking, damn this sounds familiar. You might have even tweeted Bless Beats saying “That new tune ‘Is That You’, is that you?” Turns out no, it isn’t Bless Beats on production. No, it isn’t Nick Bridges aka Bodyrox on production either nor is it D.Ramirez even though to my ears the record sounds startlingly similar to:
with a little of this:
So my question to you blog readers is this: when does being influenced by something turn into a straight rip off?
Should JRock & Randy get their chequebooks out and give Bless Beats, Wiley, D Ramirez & Bodyrox a little P for allegedly taking their ideas and tweaking them slightly or is it fair game? Have they done enough with the initial idea and sound to make it their own?
