Amy Winehouse is not too tearful about the burglary at her London home – because she has her most prized possession, a special guitar, with her on vacation in the Caribbean.
The Rehab hitmaker has been enjoying a sunshine break in St. Lucia since December (08), but while the star has been working on her tan, her property in Camden, north London has been targetted by thieves.
Burglars broke into her house in the early hours of Thursday (29Jan09) and stole her flat screen television, five guitars, and digital recording equipment.
But the singer is glad thieves didn’t manage to get their hands on her favourite instrument – a gift from her record bosses at Universal after scooping five Grammys at 2008’s event.
Her representative Chris Goodman says, “Amy is upset, of course. But everything can be replaced.
“From her point of view, her favourite guitar is with her in St. Lucia. It was a special present, given to her by Universal for winning the Grammy awards last year.”
The Streets were forced to cancel a show in London last night following a power cut, it has been confirmed.
Mike Skinner and co were due to play the Brixton Academy on Thursday evening but fans gathered at the venue were turned away.
The band’s leader admitted he was “gutted” by the cancellation and has “no idea” if or when the gig will be rescheduled.
Writing on his blog, Skinner said: “I was really excited, turned up and no lights in the whole building. They phoned the power company, who weren’t very helpful unfortunately.”

The star’s recent attempts to create a follow-up to her global smash hit Back To Black were reportedly shelved amid fears for the star’s health, with superproducer Mark Ronson claiming their attempt to record a Bond theme last summer was scrapped because Winehouse was “not ready to work on music yet”.
But Winehouse – who was recently visited by Universal Records commercial director Brian Rose – is now planning to fly back to the UK to begin work on a new album.
A source tells the Daiy Express, “Amy has been calling industry colleagues and telling them to start preparing because she’s back. She’s singing new material over the phone to them and telling them to get working on it. She desperately wants to re-establish herself as a serious musician.”
While a close pal of the singer tells the publication, “Amy is definitely getting back to work. Her manager was in St. Lucia over the weekend talking to her about organising studio time and putting together her band. She’s got a lot of songs written.”

Bosses at Universal Records sent commercial director Brian Rose to island paradise Saint Lucia for showdown talks, after the 25-year-old star was snapped drinking heavily and begging for beer from fellow hotel guests.
And witnesses have told The Sun that the Rehab hitmaker has been spending as much as £8,000 on food and drink for strangers.
A label source told the tabloid, “Brian has been told to drive some common sense into Amy and find out what the hell is going on.
“There don’t seem to be any solid plans for new music. But Universal is a business and it needs to know what is happening to one of its biggest talents.”
Universal insists Rose is meeting Winehouse to discuss future projects.
