Righteous Kill (2008) Review
Directed by: Jon Avnet
Written by: Russell Gewirtz
Tagline: Most people respect the badge. Everybody respects the gun.
Starring: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, 50 Cent, Carla Gugino, John Leguizamo, Donnie Wahlberg, Brian Dennehy
Plot:
Pacino and DeNiro are two tough cops on the brink of retirement so sick of the corrupted system that they are willing to take matters in their own hands to achieve justice.
Review:
You have two icons in DeNiro and Pacino together in a semi action cop thriller. These two put together is what great acting is all about. Everyone is pretty much a bad ass with not many much emotional ties to anyone else. It’s a dark raw movie, plus there are plenty of references to their other films.
Adulthood (2008) Review

Dude Where’s My Hood…
Plot:
Not Straight Outta Compton, but straight out of jail and back on the mean streets of London this movie picks up on the events of what happened six years after the first movie, we find that the so called hunter has now become the hunted. Our murdering little hooligan has just come out of prison after doing his time and has realised that he is now a wanted man. Concerned for the safety of his mum and his brother, he desperately goes around all his old haunts trying to find out who’s looking for him. And as he does, he must fully come to terms with the devastation his fateful actions that night six years ago had, on his mother, the mother of Trife’s daughter, his brother and Trife’s friends, including Moony (Femi Oyeniran) who’s made something of his life and is studying law and on the other end of the coin Jay (Adam Deacon) the hyper-mouthed, aggressive one from the first film who’s now a drug dealer and is especially insistent that Sam must pay the ultimate price for killing his friend…
Kidulthood (2006) Review
Starring: Aml Ameen, Red Madrell and Noel Clarke
Directed by: Menhaj Huda
Screenplay written by: Noel Clarke
Tagline: Before adulthood comes…
Let’s just say this isn’t the British version of City Of God, Boys N The Hood or La Haine
Plot:
Noel Clarke (better known for his role as Mickey in Doctor Who) pens this 24-hour story of what a bunch of West London school kids get up to when a girl from their class is bullied into suicide.
Review:
It seems Noel Clark wrote this with sensationalism and making money in mind rather than actually portraying fellow West Londoners accurately since I was expecting a gritty, violent slice of urban life. In the end, Noel Clarke sells out by having Trice realise crime is evil and uniting him with Ali, so the young lovers can give teenage parentage a go.
